India is a land of rich traditions and culture. When western countries were culturally nascent, India had an established academia. The quality of education imparted in the country was unparalleled. All learning was closely connected to nature and to life and not confined to memorizing some information. Amir Khusrau (1253 – 1325) mentions about education in ancient India, “Scholars have come from other parts of the world to study here, but no Indian scholar have found it necessary to go abroad to acquire knowledge.”
But over the years, the tradition has systematically been destroyed by different invasions. The present day school system was brought to India by the British rulers in 1830s with the sole intention of producing ‘clerks’ for their government operations. Unfortunately, we have been sticking to this irrelevant education for two centuries. As a result, our educational institutions only produce ‘literate’ people who cannot think independently.
Founded in 2010, Grace Public School aims at making every student a thinking citizen who is completely aware of inner self by breaking the barriers created by the text book confined education. Our initiative would connect global concept of education with Indian values. Our educational strategies are inspired by the following beliefs.
Chelladurai started his career an athletic coach and later transformed into an academician. He believes that the principles of coaching athletes that he acquired during his early career help him promote innovations in education. In 1987, he joined as a campus director cum athletic coach in Nagamalai Pudukottai campus of SBOA School, Madurai. As one of the core members of the school, he was instrumental in developing SBOA School as one of the leading educational institutes in the city. Driven by his thirst of promoting an innovative complete model of education, he independently founded Grace Public School in S.S.Colony.
He is an ardent believer of ancient educational system of India. He aspires to demonstrate a model that rediscovers and rebuild the hidden potentials of our traditional educational system and impart a complete and meaningful education to the student community. Though his three decades of rigorous practice and research in the educational sector he has developed a ‘3C Model’ of education.
